What we found

Will Melton founded Xponent21 in New Haven, Connecticut, in November 2015 and moved it to Richmond in 2017. Melton is founder and CEO, and Courtney Turrin is chief work officer. The team page names 13 people, and Clutch puts the staff at 10 to 49. The office at 316 West Broad Street houses West Broad Studios, which opened in February 2026. The agency sells AI search and SEO, web design, paid ads, content, social media, branding, podcasts, and video. It merged with the video firm DBArcade in April 2025, by its own account. Clients include home service firms, dental practices, and B2B suppliers such as Energy Products Distribution.

Xponent21 publishes 16 marketing case studies, and 15 of them name the client. Comfort Heating & Air, a home services firm in North Idaho and Eastern Washington, reports revenue up more than 50 percent one year into the work. Pool Brokers USA grew leads 52 percent season over season in 2025. Well-Trained Mind Academy reached 90 percent of its enrollment capacity two weeks early. ESP Window Tint saw form fills rise fourfold within five months. These figures are self-reported, and most carry no start date. Outside corroboration is thin. Clutch shows one review at 4.5 stars, and Expertise.com shows 10 Google reviews at 5.0.

The team page lists two senior account strategists, a client growth strategist, and a project manager. It names an AI content systems lead, a web developer, and a creative director. Case studies name the project manager on the account, such as Chuck McCarthy on Pool Brokers USA. The agency publishes no standard delivery timeline for client work. It says its own time from strategy to published content fell from about 60 days to under 30. Staff have worked a four-day, 32-hour week since January 2020. Clutch lists a $10,000 minimum project and hourly rates of $200 to $300.

AI search leads the pitch. Xponent21 launched an AI SEO service line in March 2025. In March 2026 it launched CARL Intelligence, its own tool that tracks how often a brand appears in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity answers. Retainer clients get it at no extra cost, and a free tier covers 50 prompts for 90 days. The company says more than 40 companies use it, but it publishes no client visibility scores. Its GEO work for Comfort Heating & Air added an llms.txt file, schema markup, and 200 FAQ pages. Another case study says all five FAQ videos it made for Energy Products Distribution rank in AI Overviews or top search placements. It gives no method or date.

The limits are a thin outside record and few dated results. Most case studies report a percentage gain without a start date or baseline period. The CARL tracker has no public client results yet. Staff work four days a week, so ask who covers your account on the fifth weekday. Before signing, ask which strategist and project manager will run your account. Ask for the dates and analytics behind any case study you rely on. Ask for a sample CARL report with the prompts tracked and your starting score on each AI platform.
