The 2026 Agency Index Updated October 14, 2026
More buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Google AI Mode for a recommendation before they search. An AI search agency works to get a business named and cited in those answers, then measures how often it happens.
This shortlist keeps every agency in our index that sells AI search, GEO, or answer engine work and scores at least 8 out of 10 on AI search readiness. The order follows the overall index score.

GEO stands for generative engine optimization. A GEO agency works to get a business named and cited in AI-generated answers from tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, and it tracks how often that happens.
The base is the same. Google says the same SEO basics apply to its AI features and that no special tricks are needed. What changes is measurement: a good agency tracks how often AI answers name and cite you, next to rankings and leads.
Run a fixed set of real buyer questions through each AI tool on a schedule, then record whether the business is named, cited, or linked. Track the share of answers over time and by platform.
