Workshop Digital is a Richmond, Virginia search marketing agency formed in 2015 by co-founders Brian Forrester and Andrew Miller. It runs SEO, paid media, analytics, CRO, and AI search work for B2B and consumer brands.
Workshop Digital formed in 2015, when two firms combined. Andrew Miller founded a paid media firm, Your Search Advisor, in 2007. Brian Forrester founded an SEO firm two years later. Forrester is co-founder and CEO, and Miller is co-founder and vice president of client services. The agency works from 3308 West Clay Street in Richmond, and Clutch puts its staff at 10 to 49. It sells SEO and content, paid search and paid social, analytics, CRO, and an AI SEO service. Analytics became its own practice in 2022, and a program for small businesses followed in 2023. Clients reviewing it on Clutch include Performance Foodservice and Hilldrup.
Workshop Digital's site carries more than 50 case studies. Several name the client, and many describe the client only by industry. UVA Health Careers saw Google Jobs applications rise 188 percent, from 6,388 to 18,368, between May 2024 and February 2025. The change behind it was one fix to the job-listing schema. A campaign for an unnamed B2B manufacturer produced a 2,400 percent return on ad spend and won a 2022 Search Engine Land Award. The agency won Best Small PPC Agency at the 2025 US Search Awards and SEO Agency of the Year at the 2017 Landy Awards. Case-study figures are self-reported. Clutch holds three reviews averaging 4.8.
Workshop Digital publishes its client team model. An analyst does the day-to-day work, a manager handles higher-level items, and a director gives overall support. A vice president oversees the SEO and paid media teams. Onboarding starts with a discovery meeting, then a baseline analysis with quick fixes, then a 12-month roadmap. The agency recommends a 12-month contract. It sends monthly reports, holds monthly review meetings, and keeps live dashboards open to clients. It gives no onboarding length in weeks. Its average client has stayed four years, by its own count.
Workshop Digital sells an AI SEO service, and its about page groups the work under SEO and GEO. The goal is to get clients cited in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini. The service page lists AI SEO analysis, content work, audits with more than 100 checks for Google, Bing, and LLMs, and monthly LLM reporting. A sample dashboard tracks the traffic AI tools send to a site, month over month and year over year. The page names no AI visibility tool. The agency publishes no AI visibility results for a named client.
The limits are a thin review record and no published AI search results. Clutch holds three reviews from 2024. One comes from a Northern Neck Insurance executive, and Forrester sits on that company's board. Many case studies leave the client unnamed or give no campaign dates. Before signing, ask which analyst and manager will run your account and how much senior time it gets. Ask what notice period ends the recommended 12-month contract. Ask for two named clients in your industry you can call. For AI search, ask for a baseline of how often AI tools cite you today.
Each criterion is scored from 0 to 10 against the bands in our methodology. The weight shows how much it counts toward the overall score.
Several named case studies carry numbers, led by a 188 percent rise in UVA Health Careers job applications from May 2024 to February 2025. Many others are anonymous, and search industry awards, including a 2022 Search Engine Land Award for a 2,400 percent ROAS campaign, add outside support.
A published team model puts an analyst on day-to-day work, with a manager, director, and vice president above. Onboarding ends in a 12-month roadmap, but no timeline in weeks is published.
Workshop Digital sells a defined AI SEO service with listed components and monthly reporting on AI referral traffic. It publishes no named-client AI visibility results.
Workshop Digital names its co-founders, works from a Richmond office, and holds an active Virginia LLC registration. Its outside record includes national search awards and workplace awards, but only three Clutch reviews.
Overall 7 × 35% + 6 × 25% + 6 × 20% + 8 × 20% = 6.8 out of 10
Case-study figures, the team model, and the award list come from Workshop Digital's site and are self-reported, and the entity record and Clutch reviews come from third-party sources.
